How Are You... a Role Model?

My oldest niece turned 12 years-old a few weeks ago, as I was only in the 5th grade when she was born, I always saw her as the little sister I wish I had. Now that I'm well beginning my 20s, I think about how my actions are both directly and indirectly impacting her view of herself and life. This ruminating thought made me further my quest in sharing the questions I asked myself. At the core it came down to, "how am I a role model?"

How much are you willing to bet on yourself?

My goals require sacrifice. I came across a Twitter/X thread a few months ago, of quotes of from millionaire's. One that stood out for me was from Beyoncé, "I don't like to gamble, but if it's one thing I'm willing to bet on, it's myself." Having the confidence to always put yourself in a position to win, even if it's uncomfortable for a moment. When you place a high standard for yourself, others will follow suit because the confidence will amplify itself.

How do you find your happiness?

How do you show respect to others?

In what ways do you show humility?

If today was your last day, what impact would you leave?

With having said this, it made me think of the level of success I wish to achieve and the areas I feel I could improve on. I know I'm not where I want to be, but I know I'll eventually get there if I continue to do these self-checks. The more people are self-aware, the more I feel our social issues would begin to change. Being successful isn't a "one man thing," it takes community as well as how we treat and appreciate our environment.

heavy on the importance of being self-aware! it is so important we have daily, weekly, and even monthly check ins with ourselves especially in todays social climate. to advocate and voice when we do need help from our community or circle because it’s not always suppose to be handled alone. i enjoyed this read, i know your niece would be proud! 💛
